Around The Bay 30k Training
I ran this past Sunday after a long time of no running. The weather was perfect, albeit snowy and slushy.
After a bit of a dramatic weekend it felt really good to pound the snowy pavement with some Odd Future Gang.. on the ipod.
Today: I’m sore and glad that I ran yesterday.
I’m also working on the 100pushups challenge with my friends.
After gaining approx 10lbs this fall/winter...

Workouts
I had a great workout today. It is a cold and gray day in my city and the walk to the gym was miserable and wet. On top of that I was feeling very ‘why bother’ about life.. it wasn’t a very cheerful morning.
THEN - I had a great upper body workout. I walked out of the gym feeling centered, balanced and kind of at peace with the world. It is amazing what weights can do for your...
WHY WINTER RUNNING > SUMMER RUNNING. →
runlikeella:
Because if you stop mid-run, you’ll freeze, so it’s better to keep going.
Because it’s nicer to see your breath instead of swimming in your own sweat during summer runs.
Because you can call it cryogenic cardio: freezing your ass off.
Because if your legs get cold enough, the pain kind of…
Back at it
Confession time: After I ran my marathon (nov 6th) I took it easy for a while… very easy.. I did not work out at all, not even once: until yesterday.
A few things pushed me to this a) my clothes have been fitting differently, b) my energy has dipped c) some loved ones have not so subtly mentioned that I look softer…
I did a weights workout yesterday that consisted of super sets of...

MARATHONER
Last sunday, 5 days ago, I ran my first marathon.
You know when you go out for a training run and within mere minutes you can tell it is not your day? During training runs, it is simple enough to turn back and try again the next day..however, when that day is a marathon, there is no turning back.
This is what happened to me. The day was beautiful, clear skies, comfortable temperature, sun...
Freakout!
The marathon is this Sunday and im feeling NERVOUS.
I feel under-prepared and im kicking myself for not training more, for not doing more long runs…etc.
It is too late for all that, all I can do is focus on staying positive and determined.
Oh boy!

Humid Run
I ran 12kms this morning by the lake. Hamilton is under a Smog Advisory (In October?!) and it was a very difficult run because of this. I found it hard to breathe, I was sweating…I was miserable.
But - it is done! Good riddance to bad runs!

..until the marathon. eeeep.
I’m pretty sore still, but it is a good feeling of work. I’ve earned this sore and this pride…a hard fought battle.
Speaking of pride, I have to say that right now in my life is the best I’ve ever felt about my body. Even better than when I was naturally slim in high school.
After the last few years of gaining weight and then fighting hard to...
